Concept
In a society that includes youth and excludes non-youth, valuable experiences and resources are lost, and meaningful interactions between generations no longer takes place and the torch that carries meaning in culture is dropped. To address this issue of ageism in the arts, artists over the age of 50 are invited via open call to join the project with the goal of being able to express their take on the impassable borders created by institutions termed "acceptable" limits of support.
Performance
rAGEing is a group performance in the form of a confrontation that focuses on revealing the problematics between ageism and cultural institutions. The work invites (and if need be forces) those who put such policies in place and those in charge of implementing such guides to reflect on aspects of present day culture which ceaselessly focus on nurturing "next generation" while undervaluing previous generations. Judged as nothing more as societal blending, the tendency is a destructive, because in turn it forgoes the most impressive, self-sacrificing and imaginative sector of our society: Those who are older.
Scenario
A large group of 25 to 50 artists, ages 60 and older, gather at the entry to any cultural institute. Although dressed in everyday attire, each is armed with a picket sign with a QR code. The group is tightly huddled together and are holding picket signs up. The image in it self unusual and that in itself raising the question behind the concept of the performance “rAGEing”. Using any newer mobile device, any pedestrian passing by is able to scan in any of the QR codes. Once the QR code is scanned, an application prompt takes place and once the app loads, the video overlay appears. The process takes less than 30 seconds. Using the scan function of the app further, pedestrians are able to scan other QR codes in and view additional video overlays.
Installation
Between performances, the picket signs are displayed in Kunsthalle Faust as a separate artwork and as a documentation platform. The picket signs arranged in a large chaotic pile with their QR codes facing upward so that they can be scanned in by visitors. In this way, the performance becomes an installation but also a documentation platform.
Viewing
The viewing process is as follows: Scan in any of the QR codes from the picket signs using any mobile device and any scan app. Follow the instructions appearing on the screen until the video overlay appears Watch, make a screenshot, or scan in another QR code ad lib. Take a vote as to which video overlay is the best. Technical The technical aspect of the rAGEing project makes use of new AR technologies that are easy to make use of and are highly accessible to even and uniformed public. For this work, the HP Reveal Applet by Auras along with the accompanying development platform will be used to create easy access video overlays of the QR codes on the picket signs. Each video overlay is linked to a specific QR code and takes the exact form of it, when it is triggered for viewing.
Support
In addition to and as an integral part of the concept of the performance, the participating artists not only are an integral factor in a performance using advanced communications technologies to 'visually shell shock" the public, they are also offered the opportunity to "live market" themselves with information containing a short exposé of their life and work linked via an integrated QR Code to a dedicated web page accessible to those who are made curious by the act of protest.

Konzept
In einer Gesellschaft, die Jugendliche
einschließt und Nichtjugend ausschließt, gehen wertvolle Erfahrungen und
Ressourcen verloren, bedeutungsvolle Interaktionen zwischen den Generationen
finden nicht mehr statt. Um das Problem der Altersdiskriminierung in der Kunst
anzugehen, werden Künstler*innen über 50 zum Projekt
eingeladen, mit dem Ziel ihre Sicht auf die scheinbar unüberschreitbaren
Grenzen auszudrücken, die nicht genannt, aber dennoch von eben diesen Kunstinstitutionen
errichtet werden durch die allgemeine Akzeptanz ihrer „begrenzten
Fördermöglichkeit“. Indem iJacked mit
einem hohen Grad an Vermittlungsfähigkeit an der Schnittstelle zwischen
Privatem und Öffentlichem operiert, spiegelt das Projekt auch den kontroversen
Diskurs um den Kunstbetrieb selbst und bringt das Individuum in Dialog mit der
Institution.

Szenario (
Eine große Gruppe von 25 bis 50
Künstlern ab 60 Jahren versammelt sich am Eingang eines Kulturinstituts. Obwohl
sie in Alltagskleidung gekleidet sind, ist jeder mit einem Schild bewaffnet,
auf dem ein QR-Code abgebildet ist. Die Gruppe steht eng zusammengedrängt und
hält die Protestschilder hoch. Das Bild an sich ist ungewöhnlich und wirft
somit Fragen auf, die hinter dem Konzept der Performance "RAGEing"
stehen. Mithilfe von jedem neueren Mobilgerät/Smartphone kann jeder
Fußgänger oder Passierender die QR-Codes einscannen. Sobald der QR-Code
gescannt wurde, wird eine Anwendung angezeigt. Sobald die App geladen ist, wird
das Video-Overlay angezeigt. Der gesamte Vorgang dauert weniger als 30
Sekunden. Mit der Scan-Funktion der App können Fußgänger weitere QR-Codes
einlesen und sich zusätzliche Video-Overlays anzeigen lassen.
Installation
Zwischen den Aufführungen werden eine Menge Protestschilder in der Kunsthalle Faust als eigenständiges Kunstwerk und
Dokumentationsplattform arangiert. Die Schilder sind in einem großen,

von den Besuchern eingescannt werden können. Auf diese Weise wird die

Der Anzeigeprozess funktioniert wie folgt:
- Scannen Sie QR-Codes von den Schildern mit einem beliebigen mobilen multi-media Gerät und einer Scan-App ein.
- Folgen Sie den Anweisungen auf dem Bildschirm, bis das Video-Overlay erscheint.

Technisch
Das rAGEing-Projekt nutzt neue Technologien
der Augmented Reality (kurz AR), die leicht zugänglich sind und für die Öffentlichkeit
leicht zugänglich sind. Für das Projekt wird das HP Reveal Applet von Auras
zusammen mit der zugehörigen Entwicklungsplattform verwendet, um leicht
zugängliche Video-Overlays durch die QR-Codes auf den Protestschildern zu
erstellen. Jedes Video-Overlay ist mit einem bestimmten QR-Code verknüpft und
nimmt seine Form auf dem Bildschirm an, sobald die Anzeige über die App
angefragt wird.
Unterstützung
Zusätzlich zum Projekt sowie als
integraler Bestandteil des Konzepts der Aufführung sind die teilnehmenden
Künstler*innen nicht nur ein unerlässlicher Faktor der Aufführung, die
fortgeschrittene Kommunikationstechnologien verwendet um die Öffentlichkeit
"visuell aufzurütteln", sie bekommen zudem auch die Gelegenheit sich
selbst mit Informationen, die u.a. ein kurzbiografisches Exposé und Werkproben
enthalten zu präsentieren. Diese Informationen sind über einen integrierten
QR-Code mit einer speziellen Webseite verbunden und für diejenigen zugänglich,
die durch den Akt des Protestes neugierig gemacht werden.
